The Library of Oriental Studies offers both Interlibrary Loan (ILL) and Document Delivery (DD) services, available exclusively to:
📌 Faculty, enrolled students, PhD candidates, researchers, and department staff.
These services allow users to borrow books from other libraries (Italian and foreign) and request copies of documents from external institutions.
📚 Interlibrary Loan (ILL)
- Users may submit up to 3 requests at a time.
- Requests can be made:
- In person at the library

📌 Service Costs
- The ISO Library does not charge a fee, but the lending library may require reimbursement for shipping expenses.
- Estimated costs:
- Up to €8 per volume (Italy)
- Up to €16 per volume (Europe)
- Users will be notified of any costs before the request is processed.
📌 Payment Methods
- If the lending library requires payment via bank transfer or postal order, the user must complete the payment and provide proof to the library staff.
📌 Loan Conditions
- Users will be notified as soon as the requested book arrives.
- Home borrowing is allowed, unless the lending library imposes specific restrictions.
📄 Document Delivery (DD)
- Users may submit up to 3 requests at a time.
- Requests can be made:

📌 NILDE Registration
- Users can register on NILDE, an Italian document-sharing network.
- Instructions for registration are available on the library’s informational page.
- Requests submitted via NILDE will be processed directly by the librarian.
📌 Service Costs
- Generally free, thanks to NILDE’s reciprocal agreements.
- If a reimbursement is required, users will be informed before proceeding.
📌 External Libraries & Loan Requests
📌 Who Can Request Loans?
- Italian and foreign libraries may request books not excluded from borrowing (check OPAC for internal-use-only materials).
- Private individuals must submit requests through their university, public, or state library.
📌 How to Request a Loan
- Requests must be sent via:

- SBN ILL system
- Include a phone number and full mailing address for shipment.
📌 Loan Duration & Return
- 30-day loan period from the date of receipt.

📌 Fees for External Libraries
- The ISO Library does not operate under full reciprocity, except with libraries specializing in Oriental or Classical Studies.
