Interlibrary Loan (ILL) and Document Delivery (DD) Services

The Library of Oriental Studies offers both Interlibrary Loan (ILL) and Document Delivery (DD) services, available exclusively to:
📌 Faculty, enrolled students, PhD candidates, researchers, and department staff.

These services allow users to borrow books from other libraries (Italian and foreign) and request copies of documents from external institutions.

📚 Interlibrary Loan (ILL)

📌 Service Costs

  • The ISO Library does not charge a fee, but the lending library may require reimbursement for shipping expenses.
  • Estimated costs:
    • Up to €8 per volume (Italy)
    • Up to €16 per volume (Europe)
  • Users will be notified of any costs before the request is processed.

📌 Payment Methods

  • If the lending library requires payment via bank transfer or postal order, the user must complete the payment and provide proof to the library staff.

📌 Loan Conditions

  • Users will be notified as soon as the requested book arrives.
  • Home borrowing is allowed, unless the lending library imposes specific restrictions.

📄 Document Delivery (DD)

📌 NILDE Registration

  • Users can register on NILDE, an Italian document-sharing network.
  • Instructions for registration are available on the library’s informational page.
  • Requests submitted via NILDE will be processed directly by the librarian.

  • If a reimbursement is required, users will be informed before proceeding.
